Study on the Coalescence-Induced Jumping of Droplets with Different Radii on Superhydrophobic Surface

The phenomenon of droplet coalescence and jumping has received increasing attention due to its potential applications in the fields condensation heat transfer surface self-cleaning. Basic research on process mechanism coalescence-induced been carried out, some universal laws have established. However, it is found that focus these studies based two identical droplets, with different radii rarely investigated, which commonly encountered nature. Therefore, essential proceed droplets unequal radii. In this paper, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are performed reveal effects radius ratio small velocity. results show as an unchanged 8.1 nm, velocity increases then decreases, indicates there optimal maximize Additionally, if changed, critical for characterizing whether coalesced radius. Furthermore, according energy conservation, conversion efficiency discussed. when greater than 1.3 three radii, rapidly decreases below 1.0%; ratios consistent result obtained from analysis.
